The MFH-Raptor high-feed milling cutter from Kyocera Industrial Ceramics features a vibration-resistant design for increased productivity in ramping and helical milling at high speeds. The cutting tool has a convex helical edge design to reduce cutting forces during initial workpiece contact, and offers coolant holes for BTA deep hole drilling inserts machining high-temperature alloys or improving surface roughness. Inserts are available for general milling, large depth-of-cut operations ranging to 5 mm, and wiper edges for roughing and finishing, even in low-horsepower operations. The cutter is suitable for applications such as face milling, shouldering, slotting, ramping, helical milling and plunging.
Inserts are available in various grades for difficult-to-cut materials and provide stability to help prevent insert fracturing and promote high-efficiency machining. For example, the CA6535 insert is intended for Ni-base heat-resistant alloys and martensitic stainless steel, and is coated with Kyocera’s thin-film CVD coating for high heat- and wear-resistance. The PR1535 insert for titanium alloys and precipitation-hardened stainless steel uses the company’s Megacoat Nano coating for improved stability and longer gravity turning inserts tool life in milling applications.

The R220.88 face milling cutter family from Seco features eight-edged cutting inserts and optimized geometries for extended tool life and reduced cutting forces. The 88-degree lead angle enables smaller inserts to cut larger depths compared to 45-degree lead angle face mills. As a result, these tools can machine close to workpiece side walls and part-clamping systems.
Designed for roughing and semi-finishing applications, the cutters are ideal for cast iron and steel parts. They are made of Idun, a cemented carbide inserts corrosion-resistant stainless steel that offers longevity and durability.
The cutter body’s size-12 insert is available in diameters ranging from 2.00" to 6.00" (50 to 160 mm). The size-16 insert is available from 3.00" to 6.00" (63 to 160 mm). Each diameter is offered in standard BTA deep hole drilling inserts and close-pitch variants. The size-12 insert’s maximum depth of cut is 0.35" (9 mm), while size 16 provides a 0.51" (13 mm) maximum depth of cut. Right-hand versions of the cutter body are standard, and left-hand versions are available for systems with dual spindles performing simultaneous milling operations.

Ingersoll’s Gold-Flex inserts feature a four-edged design for multi-functional operations, including grooving, parting, lateral turning and chamfer machining. A high-positive chip former enables machining in multiple applications while providing improved chip control in plunging and lateral turning operations. The chips are broken and moved away from the workpiece to improve surfaces.
The inserts’ clamping system features a side torx screw and three contact points for increased stability and durability under demanding machining conditions, the company says. Insert indexing and changing is designed to be simple and accurate. Cutting edges that are not in use are protected so that if one or more edges are broken the insert tungsten carbide inserts can be indexed to a new edge without adversely affecting the insert seating position.
The inserts are available in widths ranging from 0.020" to 0.125" (0.5–cemented carbide inserts 3.18 mm) and in grade TT9080. Lead angles and full-radius inserts also are available.

The Loss Detection view visualizes losses in terms of time. It shows, for example, when process interruptions tend to occur most often. Loss detection enables the user to evaluate factors such as the specific time frames, materials or tools most likely to be associated with interruptions.
The Interruption Statistics view lists the reasons for such interruptions. The user can filter for time of day, material, method, tool or module. The statistical representation shows the user how many hours the cutters were unable to produce during a specified period shoulder milling cutters because of machine interruptions.
Zünd Connect is available in a Monitor or an Analyzer version. gravity turning inserts Monitor consists of a graphical display of OEE and is available to all ZCC users for free. Analyzer enables subsequent analysis and displays productivity losses, which Zünd says enables the user to evaluate the production process and recommend improvements.

Omax has added JetCAMs Expert CAD/CAM automatic nesting software to its existing range of software packages. JetCAM has updated the product to support the complete fast feed milling inserts range of Omax waterjet machines.
?
The software provides a complete 2D CAD/CAM system, including automatic toolpath generation and nesting optimization, along with multiple levels of automatic and interactive nesting capability. It generates toolpath files designed to efficiently cut as many parts as possible from a given sheet of material or multiple sheets. These files can be loaded directly into the Omax control to take advantage of the companys waterjet surface milling cutters technologies and cutting models.

Air Turbine Tools’ auxiliary, air-driven, high speed spindles are designed to be mounted in the tool carousel of most machining centers and automatically exchanged by the tool changer. The wrap-around air induction system uses a manifold, which plugs up to a mounting block on the machining center’s spindle cap, thus eliminating the need to hook up an air hose manually. This assembly allows a range of air turbine spindles to be kept in the carousel until needed. They can also run "lights out.”
Virtually any CNC machine can be retrofitted to become a high speed profit center, the company says, allowing increased surface footage for increased productivity. The spindles can produce as much as 1.4 hp at constant governed speeds from 25,000 to 90,000 rpm. The spindles feature a CAT40 spindle interface. The ER8 and ER11rod peeling inserts collet systems for clamping tools deliver 0.0002" (5µ) TIR. slot milling cutters

Tungsten Carbide blades are sharp and durable. They are wear-resistant, and can be used in a variety of industrial applications where extremely sharp cutting instruments are needed. For example, carbide blades are well suited to cutting reflective materials for plotting and sign making. Although prone to chipping and breakage, when these pitfalls are avoided with the proper engineering, tungsten carbide blades can sustain significant industrial stresses.
Tungsten carbide is less brittle than other metals, and thus can withstand the rigors of constant use easily.
In Carbide Turning Inserts fact, switching from blades made of other materials, such as titanium, carbon steel, and aluminum, to tungsten carbide blades may actually increase productivity. By handling tough jobs with ease, carbide blades can increase productivity by 10 or 20 percent in some industries. Some factories have found that although tungsten carbide is often more expensive, its durability and ability to withstand pressure makes the extra cost worth it.
