Tungaloy has added AH6225 grade inserts to its TCB indexable counterboring tool line.
TCB is an indexable, multifunctional counterboring tool line that is designed to be used on a variety of turning machines. The tool bodies are available for cutting diameters from 10 mm (0.394") to 59 mm (2.323"), enabling a range of counterbore Cutting Tool Inserts diameters for cap bolts and nuts, as well as the expansions of existing hole diameters. The cutter bodies come in two styles depending on the intended cutting diameters: a mono block style is designed for machining from 10 mm (0.394") to 43 mm (1.69") diameter bores, while the cutters with exchangeable cartridges are for 26 mm (1.024") to 59 mm (2.323") diameters. The exchangeable cartridges can fine-adjust the cutting diameters in 0.1 mm (0.004") increments by placing the adjusting shim plates, which are sold separately, between the cartridge and the pocket.
TCB now offers AH6225 grade inserts. This latest physical vapor deposition (PVD) coated grade features a high-hardness, titanium-rich PVD coating, combined with a tough dedicated carbide substrate. AH6225 enables TCB to efficiently cut bores Coated Inserts in all material groups, including steel, stainless steel and exotic materials.

Rem Sales offers the Tsugami S206-II Swiss-type lathe with IMG 400LS laser cutting system. Developed by Innovative Machinery Group, Rem Sales’ sister company, the machine was originally designed to fast production of small, cylindrical parts for the medical industry but has potential applications in other industries that manufacture similar-sized parts.
The machine combines six-axis Swiss machining with laser cutting capability, making it possible to perform both operations in a single setup, reducing production time. The Tsugami S206-ii opposed gang-tool lathe features a Y-axis toolpost that enables the use of the back and main spindles simultaneously for machining complex parts. The machine is also convertible Indexable Inserts so that it can be run as traditional sliding headstock machine with a BTA deep hole drilling inserts guide bushing or with a chucker. All laser cutting operations are programmed and driven from the Fanuc 32i-B control.

Okuma’s Multus U3000 and Multus U4000 general purpose multitasking CNC lathes are intended to reduce setup time, improve accuracy and limit non-cutting time. Designed for long-term rigidity and accuracy, the lathes are capable of efficiently machining difficult materials and process-intensive workpieces, such as those required by the aerospace, oil, energy, medical and construction industries.
Built with Okuma’s thermo-friendly concept, the machines are said to provide long, stable machining accuracy with its thermo-static TNGG Insert design and thermal deformation control technology. A rigid traveling column enables flexible CNC machining along the entire Y axis. Tools can be easily loaded from the front of the machine and improved spindle access enables faster setup times. Smooth chip discharge enhances chip flow. According to Okuma, the machines’ Collision Avoidance System reduces keyboard operations by as much as 50 percent and maximizes uptime while preventing tungsten carbide inserts crashes.
Multiple bed lengths, optional subspindle and lower turret, and other variations enable customization to application requirements. The machine can be equipped with Machining Navi, which is designed to maximize tool performance by choosing the optimal speed(s) for reducing chatter.

Shops machining materials like 304 stainless steel or Ti-6AI4V may find use for the Pystl from GWS Tool Cutting Tool Inserts Group, which is designed for full relief so as to provide a cutting edge that is both rigid and free-cutting.
Another feature making the end mill useful for gummy materials like 316L and 303 stainless steel is the index design incorporated into the four-flute and five-CCMT Insert flute tools. The design reduces vibration in machining operations by breaking up the harmonic resonance prominent with end mills using equal spacing between each flute. Additionally, a tapered core is included for deflection during machining.
The series features a nano-PVD coating that incorporates elements like aluminum and chromium for hardness, heat resistance and lubricity. Micro-grain carbide is used for the base. The series, which includes four-, five- and seven-flute end mills offers tools available in diameters ranging from 1/8" to 1¼" with radii ranging from 0.010" to 0.250". Shank treatment for added anti-pullout protection is also available.

The Spyder CNC milling machine from APSX cuts metal, wood and plastic. The company says it designed the machine to fill what a void in the CNC router market for machines that cut specifically metals, not just wood. The machine features a configured LinuxCNC, Cemented Carbide Insert an embedded PC, a monitor, a keyboard and a pendant. It uses a wall outlet to power its control box and monitor.
The liquid-chilled spindle operates in speeds ranging from 2,000 to 20,000 rpm and, according to the company, provides high torque at low speeds.WNMG Insert A water-air mixing system facilitates cooling of the workpiece and the cutting tool. Steel shafts, hard anodized aluminum blocks, lead screws and strong stepper motors are said to contribute to the machine’s rigidity. A solid concrete base is available as an option.
The machine saves the X, Y and Z coordinates, enabling users to machine without homing the spindle. The system monitors spindle stress and can stop motion before too much workpiece or cutting tool damage occurs.

Walter has?added a trio of side- and face-milling cutters to?its Xtra.tec series for groove and slot milling, as well as?trimming and slitting operations.?The?F4053 slitting cutter is available in diameters ranging from 80 to 160 mm,?and the F4153 and F4253 side and face cutters are available in diameters ranging from 80 to 200 mm and from 100 to 250 mm, respectively.?All models feature four-edged indexable inserts in staggering-tooth formation with an approach angle of 90 degrees. To increase precision, the indexible inserts are peripherally ground. Models F4153 and F4253 use CCMT Insert identical-system indexable inserts, which are interchangeable. Inserts are mounted laterally in the F4153 and tangentially in the F4253.
?
The cutters are suitable for virtually all cast and steel materials, and various insert geometries allow precision adjustment to the relevant application. The inserts are constructed from the companys?Tiger.tec material,?which is said to provide favorable hardness-to-toughness ratios for increased machining output. Additionally, Carbide Threading Inserts the geometries are positive, which enable soft cuts, quality surface finish and minimal stress for the machine and workholding equipment. The tool bodies nickel-plated surfaces facilitate chip removal and prolonged tool life, the company says.?
